Adam Eckstrom and Lauren Was

this is it 2010 discarded lottery tickets, romance novel covers, wood and found objects 108" x 156" x 168"

So jeal of Adam Eckstrom and Lauren Was.

Tonight my non-winning of the Lottery sent me into the depths of the internet with google searches like "Lottery Winner Unhappiness" and "Where are the Lottery Winners Today". I'm not sure how I stumbled on Adam and Lauren's sculptures while searching for other's unhappiness but just the wee google image picture was enough to make me stop and take a looksie.

Using Lottery tickets and romance novel covers they make beautifully intricate patterns on constructed frames. These are so reminiscent of the articles of the greed that sometimes comes with becoming grotesquely rich overnight but also, all I could think was how many dumpster did they have to crawl into to get that many lottery tickets?

Tsehai is a ceramics artist from Denver who has woo'd my heart with her porcelain sculptures.

Laura Grossett

So jeal of Laura Grossett.

Laura was an undergrad the same time I was but part of the older and wiser clan (a senior while I was a junior) and I always was so jeal that I smell when I saw her work.

Her work applies different mediums inspired by the concept of the organic, generally in decay.

She is now working on her masters and is expecting to graduate this year. Check out her website but make sure not to drivel on your keyboard.

Amy Reckley

So jeal of Amy Reckley.

Amy was a grad student while I was working on my BFA and I can't think of a better person to be jeal of. She can build instillations out of zip ties and make wedges out of cardboard like nothing I've ever seen. Plus she's really likes The Silver Jews. Aw, yeah.

Amy is now helping run Art342 a nonprofit art residency program outside Fort Collins, CO.

I've been following Renilde's blog At Swim-Two-Birds for a couple months now and her work is absolutely beautiful. She's one of those few blogs that I am excited about when she posts new things. Not saying other blogs suck, it's just that she's real real good.
